My Version

So here is my version of the Easter layout.  Amy, I am so glad you chose this one.  It was not a layout I had marked to scraplift in the magazine, but it turns out that I had some Easter photos and a good story to go right along with it.  I expanded it to two pages, and I only had two photos so my photo strip was shorter and I straightened it up.  Anyways, I love how it came out, even though it's not one I would have picked to scraplift on my own.  That's what makes this so fun!

As a side note, I am so glad for writing things down!  I remembered from looking at the photos that it had been a cold and rainy Easter, but that was about it.  I dug out my journal (which I was good about writing in then) and there was the story about Isabel's insistence on hunting eggs outside, rain or shine!  I am thankful for my journals and for the new forum of blogging to help me remember all these things.

I liked the layout I did for Isabel last week so much (it was so easy and I just like the way it looked) that I decided to do one for Cecie (same dance recital) and for Bentley.  I wanted to do one for Lydia too but ran out of time even though these came together so quickly and easily.

I am planning to get just the one layout done this week, too, Amy.  I am moving my scrap space into the playroom and giving the entire basement a cleaning and overhaul (I've just gotten too worried about my scrap stuff getting ruined in the non-finished space) so I will be mostly busy with that.  I'll post pictures when I'm done!

Another Scraplift Challenge

I almost didn't get this done this week even though I was so excited to try it. I had a million other things I needed to be doing but I finally just locked myself away and got it done. I picked this layout because it looked simple and I actually had chosen to work on some of Lynnsey's Easter photos so it definitely worked for me. I just had to change the theme from wet to cold instead. Also, I had a couple of pictures left and so I made this into a 2 page layout instead. I really like how it came out. My printer is out of ink though so I had to write in my journaling when I would have much rather typed it out. Other than that, I really think it came out pretty well. Lynnsey loved it, so I guess that's the main thing.

Oh, and if you are wondering why I've been doing so many of Lynnsey lately, it's because I've decided to focus on her this year since she is going to be getting baptized in a year and the kids like to have their scrapbooks on display, so I want to get as much of her stuff done as possible. I'll still be working on the other kids periodically too so they don't feel left out, but you'll be seeing a lot of Lynnsey.

One Scraplifted, One Not

Some strange thing is going on with my computer uploading pictures, so I have to type this after uploading them all. Whatever. I need to play with it.

The first layout "Dance" is a total scraplift right down to the color of cardstock.

The next layout "cute as a Bug" is for Bentley and I just did it on my own.

I'm looking forward to scraplifting the same layout next week, Amy!

Scraplifting

This week I did two different projects using first a one-page layout and then the two page layout of the same pattern. This is the one page layout version. I chose it because I was thinking I even had some similar paper but when I went to put it all together, I didn't. I also only used one photo at the bottom instead of three and of course the fact that I do 8.5X11 paper as opposed to the 12X12 complicated things too: Here's my version. It didn't come out as cute as I'd hoped so I'm saving this idea to try again with something else.

And here is the two page layout as shown in the magazine. It's the same basic layout as the first one:

And here is my version. I'm happier with the way this one came out. I used brown paper instead of black and swapped trees for hearts to go with the different title, but otherwise it is quite similar, just adjusted for the smaller paper size.

Scrapbook Challenge

I didn't scrap this week either, Amy. I did do more putting pictures into sleeves. I'm still trying to get my scrap space in order...it seems to be a never-ending process.

But, anyways, we discussed doing a scrapbook challenge. Want to pick a layout to lift from a scrap magazine, and we'll both post our version of it?

I'm not sure which magazines you have, but I most likely have the same one. So pick one, and let me know where to find it and we can post our version on Sunday!

My NJ Layouts

I haven't done a single layout since coming back from New Jersey but these were the ones that I managed to do while I was there. The first one is a one page layout of Spencer when we went swimming at the lake. It wasn't his favorite thing. And the second one is a three page spread of Kaya's birth and the couple of days we spent in the hospital. My favorite page is the Welcome one.

Thanks for letting me use all your supplies Alison. I'm sure these would have turned out completely differently otherwise.

The New Year

Here are a few layouts I scrapped with Amy while she was here visiting. It just isn't a visit without a scrapbook night. I had so much fun! I so wish we lived close enough to do this once a week!

Here is the very first layout I've made for Lydia, "Growing So Fast". I scraplifted the first page from a magazine cover (just swapping stars for flowers and putting in girly colors):


This layout, "C" is for Cecily's 5-year album. The photos were from last summer. The monogrammed paper I've had for years and it had gotten bent so I needed to use it before it got worse. I cropped it down to 8 1/2 x 11 and used the remnant on the second page. I really like how this one came out. So simple but I love the colors.



This is a fun one I did last night for Isabel. It is just this past Halloween, the day of her school costume parade. She was walking in a group of witches so I thought my title was clever. The journaling was so easy...I used her own words, taken directly from her blog. I have lots of her old school journals and writings and I want to use them to journal on lots of layouts. It will be fun for her to read lots of her layouts in her own words. Anyways, I used up so old Halloween paper I'd had for probably 10 years so I was proud of myself and this one came together fast and easy.

Now that it is the new year I need to make a new scrapbook goal. I'm trying to keep it simple so I don't disappoint myself. I have decided that I want to post at least one layout per week, and hopefully more when I can do more. I also want to focus a lot on scrapbooking Isabel's layouts this year. Since she is my oldest I am the most behind on her books. I'm hoping to take a big chunk out of her layouts this year (obviously I won't get close to caught up, but I want to fill in lots of gaps, especially in her baby/toddler albums).

I'm thinking that I'm going to focus on one kid per year for the bulk of my layouts. So this year will be Isabel, next year Cecily, etc. Then repeat. I will have to do a few of the other kids, too, of course, especially Cecie and Bentley so they don't feel left out. But overall, I want to work on Isabel's stuff. Wish me luck!
